Previously I pointed out some excellent video resources for learning Ruby and Rails. Not to be outdone, the Flex community (well, Adobe actually) has their own set of training materials in video form as well. And they are available for free.
- The Adobe Flex in a Week Video Training series is like attending a week-long training class, but without the airfare and the $2000 fee. You download the software (a trial version of Flex Builder) and the free PDF textbook, and then work along through the exercises along with the videos. There are also some videos covering advanced topics, some of which I plan to watch.
- Adobe also offers another video training series, ActionScript 1:1 with Doug Winnie. Doug takes you through all of the basics of ActionScript and shows how you can incorporate ActionScript programming into your Flash application development. This series doesn’t appear to have any Flex coverage, but everything Doug covers is useful and applicable to Flex application development. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Doug teach in person; he’s a great instructor and his steady, clear presentation makes the subject matter accessible.
